Blog Post My Cloak
It all began with one garment. A hooded woolen cloak with two sizeable welt pockets. I have received so many compliments over the past 40 years, as I have worn this cloak to both casual and formal affairs. I wished that every woman could enjoy wearing a garment like mine and experience the happy feeling and peace of mind it brings.
When the time comes for that special occasion and you need that finishing touch, you can open your closet and be grateful that it is still there and exclaim, “Oh Yes”! Because you know that you will now have the confidence to face the world with style and grace.
I started by working with Pamela Ptak (@pamelaptak) of Project Runway fame, to create a pattern from my garment over several sessions. Pamela is a wealth of information and guidance in the fashion industry and helped me to create the pattern and initial fit sample.
I was hoping to have my cloak made in the USA. Could I source the same quality woolen textile that was used in my original garment? Ultimately, it had to be fabricated, so I looked to American Woolen (@american_woolen) in Connecticut to reproduce the same textile made 40 years ago. This is the stage of evolution I find My Cloak Tree in at present.
I will continue to source buttons and labels to execute my brand. I have discovered Stitch Kentucky (@stitchky) and they will cut and sew my cloak patterns to deliver my dream of sharing my ever loved garment to the world.
